The lamps were a bit of a hack as the real mechanism doesn't have lamps behind the flaps but rather lamps at the sides that I think shine onto the cards.

It's something that can be looked at, just a question of how to implement it so it looks half decent.

Thanks. I'm sure you'll make it look cool.

It's such a shame we can't see any videos of these machines for reference. In the meantime I might look at how to implement the lamps into the Top Gears and Pacmania layouts.

Thinking maybe assign them to a permanently lit lamp or a button lamp, so button changes colour instead.

Silly question, but how would someone scan these?

Can you peel the reels off the cylinder and scan them as a strip? or do you need to hold the reel against the glass for each symbol?

He's put off by the lack of lamp naming in the early Test routines :-)

In the early days all machine lamps had to be figured out by trial and error

The strips are usually held on at the ends by double sided tape, so it's just a question of gentky prising them apart with a blunt knife etc

With older machines the strips can become very brittle and even this method can crack chunks off so you need to be very careful

Scanning while on the reels would be very time consuming and produce poor results.

You cand take them off the reels, they have 2 plastic push in stud holding them together, you just have to make sure you put them back on again in the right place if using them again.

You'll see from my first post in the thread, the reason why I said they weren't possible, but...........see below.

Not so much that, remember I did Sys 5 Around The World. But as you said yourself before, you need a manual for the cards.

However, as Pacmania and Top Gears use the same cards as Stir Crazy, (albeit with different symbols on them) and are in exactly the same positions on the flip reel as well, I'm thinking Disco Inferno will use the same cards as Wet n Wild (arrows etc...) as they are clearly clones and will probably in the same position as well. If that is that case and with a decent flyer available I guess it's possible to work most stuff out eventually.

Good luck with Jiggery Pokery--Iirc each card reel had around 72 steps so god knows how the order went.

am thinking 52 for each card then around 4 or 5 were marked then there were jokers on there and the red/blue blank cards etc!!!

They weren't in order too like A,K,Q,J etc they were mixed. Do wish you all the best emulating this one (as well as others) was a real different machine to play and it was on £15 jpot with a nice streak in it ( think it could do a £60 ) and relatively soft play
