Possible Dead Laptop

My Mate Bought 2 Laptops 

 

Dell Laptop ( Vista ) works but locked (password)

 

Toshiba Satellite - Works when pressed power button on twice ?

 

Then issues started going worse ... only works upto win 8.1 but says win 10 recommended 

 

after all major updates and a few blue screens it was running OK

 

after all running nice i shut down then powered on 10 mins later and nothing 

 

all lights up power lights are on but no screen ( Toshiba ) Or Bios also tested on HDMI TV and nothing there

 

i can hear everything running but why suddlenly a black screen after windows 10 updates ? something not right here 

 

either its a Bios issue ot motherboard is knacked 

 

any advice will be brill

Best bet is the Dell, Toshiba sounds fooked.

Boot the Dell up in safe mode and log into the built-in administrator account then remove m change the password causing the lock out. The built-in administrator account may be hidden, so will need to enable that first. Easiest way in command prompt and

net user Administrator /active: yes

take out the ram and see if it boots to bios screen...

I would do the following with both machines.

 

1. Remove the power lead

2. If the unit has a battery that you can take out remove this

3. Wait for about 5 mins with the lead and battery out

4. Press the power button, this should discharge any residual power.

5. Replace the battery and the power and then switch on it should them boot up.

 

If this does not work, try downloading a copy of the windows 10 hirens boot disk on a machine that works place this on a USB stick and see if you can boot up with this, it has many utility's on this one of which will allow to remove any passwords on the laptop. If your into your PC repair I would recommend buying a Zalman Hard drive enclosure, and a small 2.5" Hard Drive, the reason for this is you load up ISO files on this machine and it will boot as if it were a CD drive you can also use it as normal backup drive.
