Hi, I ran the various Magic 7s tests. Hitthesix's one uses bar X sounds, I was wondering if this is emulatable without throwing up any errors when collecting? I see the DX by dad uses concept sounds. I can only press so many keys together on my laptop keyboard at once and there was no layout notes telling me which button was cancel. Is it possible to replace concept sound.bin with the bar x sound.bin file? Can someone like dad please let me know if it's possible?

Hello all

I am the real barxfan and it would appear that my account has been compromised in order to upload this layout. I certainly didn't create it. I have reported this thread to the mods.

Thanks

What does that mean? I'm not an internet geek so can someone tell me what account being compromised means? Thanks.

It means a third party has accessed my fruit emu account and impersonated me to start this thread.

Uh oh! I thought that could never be done, as when the person logs in with that user name there is a message saying that user name exists. That happened to me at dadsfme once and at the mekka too. Let's hope it's resolved...

That's a bit worrying!   Do mods or admins have access to accounts?  Or was it just hacked?   Why would someone do this even?

Doing a proper check would have to be done by an Admin.

On another note Bar X 7 is done now - guess where ;)

LOL...  A little harsh there Chris, tedious to play for sure...     I was thinking more of a privacy concern.   The poster must be a member here?

Yes it would be nice to get to the bottom of it though

Man, those £70 Concept machines....   Paint drying is probably slightly more entertaining with less chance of RSI.

So its all (slightly more) clear, only Administrators can access accounts but generally do not do so, unless there is a specific problem which a user has reported which can not be externally diagnosed.

Moderators and those with moderator rights cannot access accounts at all.

As well as the elected moderators there are (or in some cases used to be) a small number who can do limited moderation actions, this all dates from before my tenure as far as I can remember. These actions are very limited - they dont have access to the moderator forum for instance

Some with moderator rights can upload a layout and attach any username to it. Thats what happened here, it seems, however they unfortunately edited a layout and then re-uploaded it with the wrong username. Apparently they were uploading new ROMS, Im still trying to establish exactly why.

Edit: at this point, until I can properly get to the bottom of this, I have unapproved the file.

Just to reiterate and to reassure you BARXFAN, your account has not been accessed, hacked or compromised in any way.

Thanks for the info.   No real harm done but couldn't they have just uploaded the rom from their actual account.

No because then it could look like they were trying to pass it off as their layout - it certainly would have been confusing.

But yes, probably not as confusing as what ensued when they accidentally uploaded it as the wrong user anyway...

[Headache emoticon] as I can’t access emoticons on this tablet...

Thanks aaaamusements. Complete mystery then. You'd think whoever actually created the layout would have spoke up by now if the whole thing was somehow accidental...

Presumably it was uploaded by one of the Moderators here, hence the secrecy.

What is actually secret about it Chris?

Alex has explained what has happened (even I get it)... nobody’s account has been compromised either.

MFME has gotten a new ROM, albeit released under the wrong layout and username. The Russians aren’t invading the UK.

FME can be taken far too seriously and sinisterly at times... chill out everyone!
