New MOT Diesel Emissions

Ok, fair enough, your 7yr old diesel combustion engine isn't giving any smoke out of the exhaust, that isn't counting the Carbon Monoxide, Carbon dioxide etc that is in the un-seeable emissions.

If you have a combustion engine, especially a 7yr old Diesel one that does not give out ANY / ZERO emissions (not just zero smoke) when it is running, you could possibly be a billionaire very soon.

Isn't taking the innards put of the dpf the same as using a decat pipe on a petrol. People use these for daily running but put the cat back for mot purposes.

The hollowed out dpf must give out something detectable that it wouldn't as a functioning unit when the exhaust is probed. We will see sooner or later if and when cars get taken off of the road and owners fined.

Suppose it is, but my car still has a CAT. All's the DPF does is catch particulate matter (soot), a bit like a filter on a coal chimney. When the exhaust is probed it would come back with higher emissions, but as mentioned before if the sticker is missing they have to test it at a different rate which is 6 times the amount on my car and year, which would result in a pass.

Ok, no worries, i just didn't think the testers / Vosa or whoever else is responsible for these checks would be so naive this day and age.

There's only so much they can do as it isn't their property, mind you, it's not mine, i'm only the registered keeper! The DVLA own my car lol. 

Just proving the hype of your average 'Daily Mail' reader', that modern diesels are not as bad as they make out.

Yes, there are emissions, of course, but according to the M.O.T., the 'harmful' emissions they are looking for were not there on my car above the quantity that is deemed satisfactory!!!!

Would like to compare results to a petrol engined car of the same age!!!!

We have been reliably informed that the MOT test will very soon be changing to include a test for diesel particulates and soot. 

This test measure the effectiveness of your DPF and your vehicle will fail it’s MOT if you’ve been naughty."
