In Topic: Need help running mfme on vista

Hi all,

Ok I know you lot hate Vista but I'm going to stand my ground, yeah it is overwhelming with little useless knick-nacks like the side bar what seriously drains processor specs, but here's it's defense:

1. Vista has a new update daily, it has a feature where you can update multiple programs in one go. I.e I load program updater and bang, office 07, kaspesky antivirus, nero, codecs, etc. Piece of cake, unless it's pirate then you remove it from the menu!

2. I have not had a problem with Vista yet, so when you install the programs, they all open and the only problem is if you click the screenshots browse button nothing happens.

3. Right click in the directory, and tab compatability. Don't select, 95, 98, ME. Select XP SP2, press ok, problem solved.

4. Some software may give you problems saying your missing dll's (Not BFe, JPe, MFME).
Google, search them download and paste in windows. Open RUN command and type regsvr32 "C:Windowssystemmsstdfmt.dll" or what ever the dll is.

5. The reason for this Vista works by .NET, it was made superior to VB6, however people still use VB6 runtimes.

6. Driver problems, the updater will automatically update any drivers which are signed, if not then you'll have to find them from the web, this is wear it pays to get names, i.e creative, realtek, ati, gfx, samsung, etc not aldi or cheap sale crap which you'll never find online. Although this is personal prefernce, I know what I prefer.

Seriously I have Vista and I have crash tested it on an Acer 64bit running a 32bit Home Premium OS. I have had one problem ms32dll kept crashing when i open video files, bad ogg codec.

I am not dissapointed with Vista but remember as of NOV 07 MS stop selling XP licensce key, and by the way that shocking version of WIN pinball, no more!

Cheers all,

Chris

In Topic: To all NEWBIES downloading the latest machines - READ 1st

13 July 2007 - 11:29 AM

First I want to say just how great this site and the people who are sharing their advice are, especially Daza the first great post, helped me alot!

Ok Newbies (myself) here's what I did and i would say I have a cool setup.

1) Download that auto installer in this site's downloads, select custom and install all 5.
2) Download MFME 3.2, extract and replace all the files in the MFME dir.
3) Goto reproserv (link left) and download 9.4 and/or google 10.1a, 9.9 then copy the exe's across.
4) Download the new JPemu 2.51 fromt this site, rename the old JPemu.exe to JPe250.exe, now you have both.
5) Update BFMulator 2.07, and again copy the new exe into the BF folder.

This means you have many versions of the 3 emulators, the file layouts, etc. Now the setup:

1) Goto the Tutorials Page of this website, read 3 and print them off, they are good and 2of3 have pics.
2) You should already have the layouts downloaded for the 3 various machine's, and the screenshots.
3) Extract the files which need extracting, it says in each tutorial.
4) Extract the screenshots to each shot folder.

I don't think you can go far wrong with this, ok it's not as easy as Mame, but if you think this is hard, try setting up VPinMame!!
Common sense and google, is your main weapons here!

Major snags? E-mail me: chrisscoles@o2.co.uk

Now I'm going to take a look at MAGE and the Fruit Mame32 version.
