HELPPPPP!!!!  :realmad:

I clearly do not know what I am doing.

I have an SR5i coin mech I want to wire up to my pc (for my home made fruit machine). The original plug/wires where plugged in to the Cctalk part of the coin mech, I have an adaptor to go on the pc to power the coin mech but I do not know how to wire it up, and then the other issue I am faced with is what wires go to the ipac drive (when I order that part), as that needs to the tell the emulator what coin was inserted etc.

Please help before I blow myself up!

You cant just wire a coin mech to a pc and expect it to work. Theres a lot more involved. Check the messages I've sent you and read up on what each connector on the coin mech does . You will probably blow something up plugging it directly into the pc

I have read it, I don't understand it. I have come accross this on page 37 of the user manual (photo).

The plug/wires going in to my coin mech, the two grey ones in pins 2 and 4 are connected to 0 Volts (I presume that means negative)?

I have two wires left now, blue and yellow... Pin 3 has blue in it but on the diagram it says its not used (surely it must have been used otherwise why is there a wire in it)? Pin 9 has a yellow wire in it an that says LOW at power up, can I presume that goes to a 5V power (red)?

This is my logical brain finking, but not as an electrician lol.

Hurrah!

I was looking at the pin plug the wrong way round, it powers up (doesn't blow up). It doesn't accept any coins though.

The only wire not in is the yellow one which is for data (I presume that goes to the pac drive?)

I thought it would accept coins powered up, maybe its locked out?

You cannot use a ccTalk mech with the IPAC, it has to be a parallel one.

Warning: This post is mostly my own opinions and may contain irony, if you are obsessed with PAST history you may want to ignore it.

Parallel mech only, As I've said before a CCTalk coin mech won't work. You may get a powered up mech but it wont take any coins until you have wired up the rest of the pinouts correctly. You will need another mech to continue.

Also, where does your red Pc wire goto? as this is only 5v, mech requires 12v

It went to the motherboard. The type you'd plug a hard disk or dvd drive to.

There's no other cables coming off the pc psu.

I still have the PSU from the original machine but I doubt that will do anything if its not plugged in to a motherboard, it has a mains switch on the back of it (but I haven't tested it). I mention this because I don't think I have any additional wires coming from my current PSU and maybe I could use the old PSU to power the mech and hoppers, unless theirs an alternative?!

R.E the PSU, twisted the green and black cable together so now it powers up at the flick of a switch, so I now have power for the coin mech and hoppers when they arrive! :D
