In Topic: Banned From DIF....

I forgot to mention, when they are stored on the FTP they are not named, they have either a 6 or 8 digit (I can't remember) unique name BFM assigns to all their games. With the S2 ones I had a document which told me which number related to which game, and I made an effort with the S2's to rename all the files appropriately. I may have done it for a few early S4 dumps, but I honestly cannot remember, it's likely I stored them as found with the numerical name.

And just to make things more interesting, I am not sure if I ever saved the document which could decode them to the back up drive :)

Should still be possible to work out what is what by loading them into the EMU, but I doubt thats something I could be bothered with right now.

Hi we have a fair few Scorp4 layouts or roms without there sound parts so any uploads are much appreciated
On the subject of sound roms I don’t suppose you have a few I’m listing here
Shogun scorp1 I think
Bobby dazzler
Cluedo
Club tutti fruittie
Bank roll
Basically as said a fair few
I hope you get back onto DIF As that is the place to be now, unfortunately this site has gone down hill a lot in recent years no one uploads their layouts to here and hardly no posts I’m sad to say!!
Hopefully differences will be put aside and the past can be left behind as life’s to short

I honestly couldn't tell you exactly what is on the drive without digging it out and installing it, which I will do at some point and I will upload its entire contents regardless of whatever the situation is at DIF.

What I do know is there were no sound ROMs on the FTP ever for S2, and as for S1 - I think I may have a few program roms, but I don't think I have ever seen a sound rom for S1.

S4 and S5 were much more complete, often with multiple revisions of the same ROM and periodically, I would just connect and dump the entire FTP to keep things up to date. I lost access around 2017\2018 so there would be nothing newer than that obviously.

Also, it was a BFM archive, so other manufacturers using the same tech, QPS, Mazoomer etc were never on there either.

We have a nice, active community over at DIF and FME is a much more chilled out/settled place, then it ever was.

I hope you get your membership sorted and join in again, many of the old school are still active.

Since 2016, when the new release of MFME was released, most of the animosity of the past, was quickly moved on from. Wizard, was very active and posting and updating the community on a daily basis about MFME. Play testers of the emulator, included several members who would be at loggerheads in the past. So much of the past had/has changed.

Yes sadly Wizard has passed, but there is still plenty of stuff being released for MFME. Also a new project, the arcade simulator, has huge potential to keep MFME alive and fresh for years to come, even without MFME emulator updates.

Thanks for your response, I had noticed a much more active and perhaps “chilled” scene over at DIF before for reasons I still don’t understand I was banned.

I have seen a lot of what look to be very good DX layouts from both old and new designers, the odd thing with me is I NEVER played any of the emulators – I just loved the challenge of creating a layout and understanding the technology behind it.

I’m not going to be “that guy” who promises the “world” just to get his way, but I had access to the BFM FTP for well over a decade, right up until around 2018 IIRC. During this time, I would regularly download its entire contents of predominately program ROMS (S2/S4/S5) to a hard drive. I no longer use any mechanical drives in my system but I do still have my old drives. As I don’t really follow the forums anymore I have no idea if there is still a problem obtaining ROMS but with the notable exception of S2 sound ROMS (which were never on the FTP for some reason) I have a complete set of all BFM games up until around 5 years ago.

If these are of use, then Ill make an effort to upload the lot.

No thanks? You obviously haven't read your own release threads.

And you don't just give birth to something and sod off, you have to raise a child.

If you only turn up here to attack Andy whenever he returns, you aren't part of the scene, you are just trolling.

If Andy left the scene tomorrow then within a few weeks you and Geddy will just stop posting too. If you ever contributed anything when he wasn't around I could sympathise maybe.

You all say if Andy wasn't around the scene would be better, but when he's not around you still don't post. In fact you only ever post when he turns up, so if we keep him around maybe you'll get round to contributing something to the scene rather than not posting at all.

Andy wasn't around for a couple of years, was the scene any different, apart from your personal attacks on him and anyone who defends him.

You claim to have ACCESS to a host of Sys85 and Sys83 ROMs, if you want the scene to be better, release them. Not for me, but for the members of the scene who don't get embroiled in these arguments. People who are only ever confused and disappointed by these arguments because at the end of the day, they are the ones who lose out.

I don't remember System 83 or System 85, I didn't write the tech for my enjoyment, I was born in 1983 so I wasn't in arcades playing those games. I wrote it for the benefit of the scene, for those who can't code, to allow a few people to enjoy what they have waited for all these years and have done nothing wrong.

My favorite tech is Impact and I can play that quite happily already, you're not hurting me by holding back resources. The only unemulated techs I really want to play are MPU4 Video, and Epoch. MPU4 video is already in development as part of the new MPU4 C++ dll, and KC's Epoch emulator is on the way too.

You can't hurt me by holding back resources because I already have what I need/want to play, you can only hurt the scene and the members that haven't even posted in these threads.

And by trying to make yourself sound so important to the scene, but having only posted 66 times in 11 years, you look a bit of a tit. If you have all these ROMs prove it or stfu.

Not going into all of this. Personal reasons are actually valid and are why I left the scene... after hacking PR and making a fool of Cheese LOL - that was a laugh I admit.

But anyhow. I HAVE NOT SAID I HAVE SYS83 they were not on the BBS, I think I know someone who does, but im not calling to ask on your behalf. If he does maybe someone filter though for you.

I missed a point regarding scripting, BFM makes all its layouts in Photoshop, that is its design tool. The scripts are auto generated and need the dips and other options set to work correctly. So yeah, your hero Tutton cant use layers in photoshop, nor can he set a dip by text.

Got to say, you really have made the smart move here mate. Long live  FME, well as long as someone leaks you some ROMS. Lets see how drunk I get tomorrow eh.

The odd thing is, old is harder than new believe itor not. Well not technically, thats a bitch and takes time but soon as its stable enough you have every ROM Flyer there is for the tech.

Old is done, what you need are resources. Yes some I have, but collecting and sorting them probs actually took more  time than getting the tech stable. They were available to all for over 5 years and yet it seems no one downloaded them. I posted links many times at PR and FF and maybe even Dads. No one cared.

Now that's all you can do, so you want them. well  sorry folks do your own calling around, grovelling, begging etc I did my share years ago.
