@Wearcity I think you have nailed it when you say

I think that is what is missing from fruit machines now, £70 & £100 machines are so mind numbingly boring there really is no need to play them. I think we all agree that the best period of fruit machines was when the jackpots were less than £8 or so. With regards to the title of the thread, yes, I think they are a dying breed because who can afford to pop in £20 to see if a feature board will offer something.
If you do have a couple of quid in change, that does not go far nowadays.
I do miss the good old days when you could be out all day with a score!
