I have to agree with you Vecs, if I stake n, I should win n x 1000, if that is what the Jackpot is, there really is no benefit in gambling £200 a spin to win a top prize of £500.

I do remember reading about Club machines that increase the payout percentage by quite a margin if you play on a £2 for example but otherwise what is the point?

Just started to read the article...

"Labour has accused the government of being “fundamentally weak” after ministers bowed to pressure from bookmakers and agreed to a two-year delay before slashing the maximum stake on controversial FOBT's"

It was a Labour policy that bought them in the first place but the Guardian seem to have forgotten about that.  I agree with nails in that it will drive people elsewhere to gamble so we get even less tax revenues than we would have.  I feel that we are cow-towing to  whoever can shout the loudest.  I know the dangers of gambling and how addictive it can be but what about the free will of people to make their own minds?

I, as many on here love to have a flutter, I don't want to be told how to gamble, how much to spend etc...so why should everyone else suffer?   I know of the dangers, believe me, I know of people who have lost six figures.

Remember that the people in charge have to try and keep everyone happy which is not possible so that is why they only tend to look after the hand that feeds them, i.e. big businesses.

Rant over (for now)
