Hi there,

I've downloaded the new mfme 5.1 but I see it is in a .rar file. How do I convert this into the emulator icon like the other versions please?

Is there a particular reason the files are rar as opposed to zip? Not trying to tell people their business or anything but .zip are supported in Windows whereas .rar is not which seems to be the causing issues for those not too tech savvy...

no reason, I'll issue MFME in zip format from now on.

Yeah, but that's because you know what a rar file is :)

Bigger problems await if you don't even know what a .rar file is.

Rar files do work with windows for free, you can download 7-zip. Open that programme, find the rar file, open the file menu, choose 7-zip sub menu, and I often extract to MFME v whatever the next version will be. Just my little tip. This is how I did it with my HP when I had it new. Yes, winzip wasn't even on there! I've litterally had to start from scratch! Glad to see the site problems have also been sort of sorted.

Why? It doesn't need it

I've had no problems with winrar it was a 28day free trial back in 2010 I'm still using the same one now lol.
It would be nice if all designers when they release layouts before zipping up could place all the components of the layouts as in bin, gam, FML files all in one folder for easier extraction. Then the files in some cases wouldn't get mixed up when users place them in their designated folders.

I have no idea what winrar is and why it needs to cost money, and like I say, why pay for it when 7-zip supports rar extraction anyways and it's free?
