Hi guys, loving the new 5.1 and 6 versions but I am having a minor problem. I have downloaded a ton of roms which all work as they should, but the emulator can show the machine name incorrectly and often multiples of the same show up. Once i have clicked on certain tech games (MPU5 for example) to load it then corrects the incorrect text. However when I click on a Scorpion1 tech game it continues to show the wrong text even after loading. For example one game is called "CFDUDX", (it also shows 3 times), when i load it, it is Crazy Fruits Downunder.

BUT regardless of what is corrected from loading a game, a rescan puts them all back to being incorrect again.

Whether it is related or not I have some games in their own folder(unzipped) and some extracted straight in a main folder. Own folder games are in the same folder as the main rom lot. I dont fancy opening 100 folders and moving the contents but will if this will help.

Did any of this make sense? :)

when you download any layouts form here or other sites, they need to be in there separate folders like below

Games from folders AND games not in folders are showing on game list.

Nope.... all mine are unzipped into one folder which MFME scans using the Game Manager.  All is well.

I just spent a while re-unzipping into their own folders and has not made any difference. Its very odd!

Lots of duplicates, lots of weird machine names

Your Database / Set Current Game Directory maybe wrong.

Set it to the root of the folders with all the games are in and do a Database / Scan All.

I have my games in My Documents -> Games. And this is where my game directory is set.

So on the ones that are not meant to be there, you can right click on them and choose "Open Folder", this may help trace the location to where these extras are coming form then.

This is helping a lot, it seems some game folders contain an identical game folder! So I can manually delete these. Is it normal some of the games are just abreviated or is that an error? I noticed All cash Advance was called ACA in the folder so had to manually rename.

It might be down to how the layout creator names the layout, or the folder(s) the layout comes in.  In an ideal world it would be good in the future to have a uniform way of naming layouts and folders before they are released so they are easy to read in the game list.   We are probably a long way off something like that though.

Watch out! There's a SIG thief about...

Also make sure you don't have Show File Names checked under the View Tab

Warning: This post is mostly my own opinions and may contain irony, if you are obsessed with PAST history you may want to ignore it.

Yep this was not checked. I have manually changed some names. Still a few oddities, duplicates etc but loads better.

Some duplicates will be because there are more than one version of each layout.

I would suggest everything in separate folders. Start as you mean to go on.

It doesn't have to be as complicated, but my set up is E:/emulation/fme/mfme machines/scorpion 4 machines, then each machine has its own folder.

I point my game manager at E:/emulation/fme/mfme machines
