Hi all, I have purchased a few £500 Rio's in the past and only ever had one game on real play, whereas other games have been on it but can only be played in demo?

Seen a few tatty ones on ebay with games all in ''real'' mode but does anyone have any idea as to how you go about buying a Rio from JNC (as a pure example) and having all games in real mode?

Do you need an extra part, or can you request this?

Sorry, not too technical on this, was wandering how it's done?

Cheers all

Right what happened here is that someone created a "PIC chip" which was plugged into the game card on the MPU5 inside the rio. Only about 10 were ever made. You will be extremely lucky (read - will not happen) to get one of these.

And even if you do, you can still only have one game on the menu at once.

This is very true ^^^^^^

When they were made nobody was interested in them so Andrew didn't make any more.

The good thing about them was there was no more having to change the game card or pic chip.

All you needed to do was open the bottom door and install and enable the game you wanted to play which takes about 30 seconds.

I have all games in real mode (23 I think) including some early t7 games with pie gamble, plus I have a load of the game cards to be able to change games the 'old fashioned' way :)

If you got a rio there was a lob lot of game cards on ebay recently from a Mecca member which would start your collection off if you wanted to play other games in real mode.

I see.

So basically the chances of getting one aren't good then.

I'd imagine you can still buy one with them all on demo (as imagine thats not such a problem) but getting them into real mode isn't as easy?

Oh well, worth a try

since these were some 2003 (?) im surprised they have not come out on a stand alone emulator. Despite the popularity of rainbow riches, IMHO the very first version of Cashino500 was fantastic. S16 games just seemed to play better. Projects Mega Bars had 20 win lines and no free plays. It was such a great game and now lost forever. They did a spin off with diamonds clubs hears and spades. couldnt tell you the name though.

Wizard has publically said he has no interest (at this point??) in emulating them, but since reel based are on the decline, and Barcrest stop making them full stop. maybe somebody else could pick the project up.

They are 15 years old now. imagine having cashino in one instance and RR on the other, while the 3rd is the progressive topbox.  (insert your drool here!)

Getting real mode is as easy as buying the game card for whichever games you want in real play.

Like I said there was a set of 4 cards on ebay last week which would have given an extra 3 games to play in real mode

The cards are getting pretty hard to find these days, as nails said above. They are years old, most have been smashed up. Dam, I had one and just smashed it up!

Well, the psu inside the pc failed so not really worth trying to shift on. Plus it had a few bits that are useful, like a high ram mpu5!

I'm very sad to be saying this but.....

Mine might be for sale in the very near future if anyone is interested.

Possible new machine and zero space will be the only reason it will be available :(

It took me years to get it to be everything I wanted and I will be gutted to see it go.

If anyone might be interested let me know and I will put a post up with pics and a list of the extras etc that it will come with.

Thanks

I'd be interested Chasnbons, PM me if you like, as I would be very interested to see it, what games it's got and how much you'd be asking for it.

Ideally I was looking for one just like Chasnsbons,, but maybe with a Star wars game also, as this is my favourite game and one of the main reasons for wanting to buy a Rio or a T7.

Is it relatively easy to get a game card for this game, and will companies give it to you, or likely say no?

I'm a bit confused as when you look at a T7 as there are several games on offer on screen (all in real mode obviously) and it's a simple case of pressing the game button and away you go....................

I take it Rio's are different to that and a case of changing game cards over, because they can only store one game at a time on screen, or is it a case of having to change BOTH the game card AND pic chip every time you want to swap games?

Is that right?

Ideally I was looking for one just like Chasnsbons,, but maybe with a Star wars game also, as this is my favourite game and one of the main reasons for wanting to buy a Rio or a T7. <<< You'll need a T7 then, Rio only play a limited number of games, 23 I think, and can only have one game "loaded" at any particular time.

Is it relatively easy to get a game card for this game, and will companies give it to you, or likely say no? <<< Rio is so old most places will give you them if they have them, but to build a full collection of game cards will still take a while. Companies that don't deal with the public will not supply you with them. If you want a Rio, you're best off getting Chasnbons one, as it has all games available to play in real mode.

I'm a bit confused as when you look at a T7 as there are several games on offer on screen (all in real mode obviously) and it's a simple case of pressing the game button and away you go....................  <<< Correct, that is the benefit of T7 over Rio, and there are far more games for the T7 than the rio.

I take it Rio's are different to that and a case of changing game cards over, because they can only store one game at a time on screen, or is it a case of having to change BOTH the game card AND pic chip every time you want to swap games?  <<< Game card has the pic chip on I think, so probably just the game card. Others will need to confirm this.

Many thanks for this.

Yes, can anyone confirm if it's just the game card needed and the pic chip is already installed in that card itself?

I would have thought so, as Chasnbons games wouldn't run otherwise on just a game card surely?

His Rio is different. His one PIC chip has licences for all 23 games stored inside it.

This is why, if you're going to get a Rio, get his.

Theres only about about 8 the same as his, and good luck finding one of them!

Thanks Chris for your input, I've confirmed everything for Jon via a very L O N G  PM lol

I wish I could store it somewhere instead of selling it, but it's an option I don't have unfortunately.

I REALLY would keep it if I could :(
