Very similar to pooks £4 version but with a higher jackpot and four reels instead of the standard four, i've made a start on the artwork for it, its not perfect as the highest res flyer i found of it via spas google drive thingy is still poor but its a different version to what we've got.

there is actually two lamps per "card" on the hi lo so i take it thats for the back of the card and the face of them?

how would i lamp the cards?

 

Again due to the flyer used its won,t be the best looking dx in the world and will be smaller than usual for mfme5 (roughly 1000high) but its a rom version of this machine i've been looking for, for a  while now as remember playing this in a greasy spoon way back in '91/92'. and we all want to relive those memories of machines past!

Looks pretty good to me. Great to see a rare 4 reeler that isn't a clubber too!

just found some images from the mecca via boozenet and maybe just maybe i can make a better looking dx out of them fingers crossed, but just noticed the reel bands on the original dx are all out of place i mean the pears are supposed to be apples same goes for the cherries/lemons and bells bars n plums. basically all of them lol. 

if suceessful with them i'll be using this images for the frame of the machine which as you can see is minus its top metal section maybe able to nick something for something else

using the original flyer art as above but added elements of the images i found, not a lot can be done with the nudges section but should be able to source the buttons from the images

I remember this machine being in The Crystal Rooms Leicester Square.

When we got the 3 reel version emulated back in the day, I thought to myself I'm sure this was a 4 reel machine.

I'd probably say the new bigger £4.80 era of machines was the most memorable change of jackpot for me. The distinct new higher jackpot decal on the machines stood out and to think it was just an 80p increase we were getting excited about.

EDIT.... Also of note where it says 20p play it mentions Blackjack MKII. So it wasn't considered just a 4 reel version of the 3 reel machine.

coming together well, like a tit i thought there was thirteen cards as in a normal suit but didn,t realise the machine misses out no 10 so had to re edit the artwork.

now onto the confusing reel symbols apples are pears, bars are bells, lemons and cherries and so on completely different to the 3 reeler from pook?

I remember this being in a chip shop on Bolton Street in Bury, which is now Dixy's Chicken (0/5 in its hygiene score - needless to said, avoid!)

Suck mode was horrendous, then other times it would give £1.60 wins away for fun.

you must be a slot player around the early nineties then, great slots and great times even though you probably still lost a days wage back then probs around £30 you know you had a full days slotting and sometimes you're mission was fruit'ful and came back with trousers down to your knees (no dirty thoughts guys) but due to your pockets bulging with tokens and quids alike.

Much more of a casual player than these so-called pro fruit players. Games I remember fondly from back then include Crystal Maze, Viva Espana, Fairground, Viva Las Vegas Six, Andy Capp and Viz. There were also a series with a big red LED screen where it said that you had to look for its hidden treasures but I can't for the life of me remember what they were called.

Play it again etc on ace tech there's a few layouts for these floating about I could never know what they meant.
I was more of a £4 JP player as you say a casual one so never really got to play machines with emptiers etc.

ACE tech were my favs around that time - simply because (a bit like the early Party Times) they could bring you back to profit quickly after a losing run on the more interesting machines mentioned...

 

That said, the first £4 machine I ever played (BIG Banker - JPM) was amazing simply for the proper sound chip and look etc compared to the £3 that came before it...
