The battery holds the game state info. I think it's a requirement on MPU5. IE It won't work correctly without it.

I have found an mpu5 board to order
Can anyone tell me if they are all the same for barcrest
When I have opened his one up to get to the battery inside printed on the board it's says
MPU5 barcrest 09/09/03
XP16924-v4

Do I need to order a specific one or are they all the same just checking so all the pins around the edge are the same so I can littrally just plug it in and it's a like for like swap

I think there are two types of main board.  I'm not too sure but I think one version has more onboard ram.  Don't quote me on that but I'm sure I've read it on one of the forums at some point.

Thanks for the replies

At this moment in time I am not sure of anything.
I dont know if the battery is rechargeable but I will connect it all back up apart from the speaker and give it a try

Any idea how long it would take to charge it just so I. Know when to say enough is enough.

It will take forever and a day to recharge, as they aren't rechargeable.

When it's dead you either need to replace the battery and clear the board down for it to work or get another board (the second option if much easier lol)
