Looks ok, you say " cramped" as it a lot in a small area could you not make the layout background bigger as in more grey area around the edges and bigger area used then you can spread the lamps out further giving you more space??
I make all my layout classic or dx minimum 1200x1200

It's pretty much as tall as it can be on a 1080p monitor. I'd rather not widen it as it loses the aesthetics of the original machine then. Plus when iut's resized on smaller screens it looks a lot worse. Fruit machines are tall & thin not short & fat! (aside from the low techs).

True I'd say excluding cash box the actual machine is roughly the width X2 equals the playing height so the lamping area excluding a centimeter around the border should be for instance on a classic. 1000H x 500W
So when I make a dx with an area of 1200 squared the actual lamping area excluding the machine casing and background art is considerably less then displayed.
But each designer to their own way of doing things
