Not sure what problem you have vecs but you can use any colour to fill the reel window, not sure on black but any other colour works fine. Make sure your rgb in paint/photoplop is at max to ensure full transparency.

I don't have a problem as I use a different colour (dark grey) which works fine for me, infact better than the previous green. As said in oldie mfme you had to get the colour spot on as in all pixels the same colour or you'd get bleeding around the edges of green. It just seams grey fills in better for some reason, as for masking lamps we all use the standard bright green but can you use any colour?

background colour will bleed through if you have non opaque pixels in the background image, ie anti aliasing on your reel windows, which would then be copied over into your reel overlays

No mate, you are very welcome to use the artwork to make an mfme layout.  I was looking last night for my original PSD file but I no longer have it.  It was a long time ago now.

I'm not surprised you are slowing down fella.  How many layouts have you created again?

J

153 different ones plus about a dozen resizes including starprize now complete, in four years around a layout every two weeks lol

No fault of my own I've broke three laptops using the left mousey key, been trying to use a wireless mouse but blooming hard to coordinate the two.

I can't imagine working on a laptop with an airpad and clunky buttons, I'm amazed Vecs has created so many layouts, that would be a nightmare for me.  I've used a wireless mouse for many, many years and I honestly can't tell the difference, no lag or anything.

Use the marquee tool to select the part you need to straighten then go to, edit/transform then select skew and drag it straight. You can also use the perspective to along with warp and distort tools too.
