Sad loss of another talented actor today. He appeared in many TV programmes, including Coronation Street, Are You being Served, and as 'Dimes' in the 1979 film 'Porridge'. As well as many theatre productions

 

He is of course well known for playing the part of 'Rene Artois' in 'Allo Allo', the downtrodden husband/cafe owner.

Very sad news, another part of my childhood!

Indeed. Frightening to think he was slightly younger than me now, when Allo Allo started. Really shows life is so short.

 

Such a great program Allo Allo, I wasn't keen on the show when it started I was 12 at the time and my mum loved it, so it was always on. When it came back after a break, because Kaye, got injured in the great storm in the late 80's, I was then approaching 20 and started to really enjoy it.

 

Watch it through to the end and then when we started to see complete series on DVD, got them all. Although a lot are Polish realises, because they came out before a lot of the UK releases.

 

I've also got, or had a couple of allo allo rene's diaries as well, that were released in the early 90's IIRC.

Very sad indeed.

Another iconic tv actor is no longer with us.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.
