Is it possible to play older layouts, for example, fightnight or older MPU3/4 layouts and save the .fml file so it is compatible? If someone could tell me which old machines I can play on MFME 5 it would be much appreciated.

Yes all machines that worked on the older emulator will load up.

As for a list, well it'll be over 1000 machines and 4000 layouts.

Haha Wearecity, that's great. I want to try road hog on the new 5.1 to see if the sample problem is fixed, if anyone else knows please let me know, but otherwise I'll go and download ROMs and a road hog layout now to see for myself.

As far as samples, the cancel, fail MOT, car skidding, siren, high low click, comedy "wha wha wha" sample and nudge sounds are still not playing at their correct rate when I play the machine, but play OK in the samples window. All others are OK. I will try to PM Wizard unless he reads this. Perhaps next MFME update?

Thanks for taking the time to identify exactly which samples are not playing at the right frequency. I have found the cause and fixed it, will be included in the next update.

Be aware though, that the frequencies displayed in the sample player are based on the encoding specified in the Sound ROM. The actual frequency at which they are played depends on the clock frequency set by the game when it plays the sample, as the hardware can set the actual OKI clock rate "on the fly"
