If thats the case why can't they give wizard immunity for what has passed given that its now open source.I am sure this could pave the way for wizard to release an updated mfme maybe even under mame a bit like how the pinball scene has pinmame and visual pinball.I know i am in the minority but i fully believe that wizard was prepared to release an updated mfme .Sometimes you have to close an eye to get what you want.Certain people here were incapable of that and now we have mame with hundreds of roms listed but little else.

Minority yeah, but not a minority of one.

As I remember it, Wizard was going to release his updated emulator once Amber had been released (or a bit afterwards) so as not to pee on guitar's chips. Then all the open source stuff hit the fan and everything got cancelled.

I have no real issue with the "what you could have had" video on YouTube - I took it as more of a 2 fingers to the MAME guys rather than the scene in general.

As you say, maybe that emulator will see the light of day at some point - after so many years it may well have even more techs than the ones in that old video.

Here's hoping anyway...

A new emulator... I'd love to see multi players as has been mentioned maybe community gaming. An emulator that resizes all layouts. A emulator that plays all games in one edition not some in mfme3.2 some in mfme9.4.
A emulator that looks like you're in a real arcade against other users.
Hang on a minute we hopefully will have all of the above soon, project Amber2. Mfme was and still is the dogs walnuts, but it's time we all moved on mfme v4 ain't gonna happen well might not! It's time to embrace in the new era of virtual fme. Remember Rome wasn't built in a day, you can take an age building something great only for it to be destroyed in minute's let's not let this happen with Amber.
The more I do today, The less I do tomorrow.
Fme is alive and screaming into the 21st century!
Enjoy FME and Happy Gaming!!!!

We didn't let it happen with MFME either...

The circumstances of 'the leaked' emulators (from his own inner circle) and then MAME demanding the release of MFME's source code because of it being used in the emulator is what DESTROYED the emulator run.

We, the members at that time, had little if any say in the matter because events took it out of our hands anyway.

Rome certainly wasn't built in a day... but I believe it was built quicker than an official Amber release has been!

MPU4 Video (and Plasma) will be the next cores tackled. But until the editor is finished its pointless adding more techs. Priority 1 is to get the front end working, and stable. The dll's all follow a common format, so once I start doing them, they should come thick and fast. I've set myself a mini challenge of doing Sys83, 85, Scorp1, Scorp2 in a single weekend at some point. They are all very similarly setup (hardly surprising) so it should be doable.

But for the time being IMPACT is the test tech for the front end.

Well there's the stepper motor assembly supplement booklet at the Mecca in the downloads section, which seems useful and there are some ROMs available too. I will have a further sniff about.

Will have a look, I imagine it's fairly similar to MPU3. I owned an MPU2 machine at one point, unfortunately, long before I knew about emulation so I didn't save any bits.
