HI is it possible to download video content from YouTube as I'm trying to download a video uploaded from my youth many moons back. I tried a programme I have on Firefox called download helper but it couldn't open the file as the flash player needed updating and it saved to a flv file. Is there any simpler ways around this via Ie or chrome.
Also me being thick with computers I'd need a step by step guide on how to do it lol.

Hi Vecs,

As you've almost got there except for the flash update is there any reason you haven't just updated Flash for Firefox?

That way the .flv should just play. If you can get the flv file, but want a different format then Format Factory (http://www.pcfreetime.com) is your friend.

Install it, click ->avi (or whatever format you want) and drag the .flv file in.

Cheers,

Magz.

VLC player will play flash (flv) files, and most dvd converters will recognise and convert flv to DVD no problem.

Free Studio will help you a lot as I have used this for the past 3 years now and it has done it's job for me with no problems!

http://apps.dvdvideo.../FreeStudio.exe (That will install 20+ programs ranging from YouTube to Videos, YouTube to MP3 + so many other things)

http://www.dvdvideos...be-Download.htm (This is the single file version of it if you don't wanna download all the others and the options are very easy to paste YouTube URL in program, do the converting settings you want and then click download/convert) and you'll have what you need from YouTube)

If you install the YouTube downloader, make sure you:

Set the install to Advanced and untick the boxes (looks like a greyed out option but can be clicked)

Select to Not accept the EULA / Details on the next 2 screens

If you don't it'll mess with settings and install bloat software on your PC...

I use Any Video Converter since real player went rubbish. Works very well for me with the added bonus of being able to convert to another video format after download (and offline vids too).
