Just picked up the LT version of this (Main reason, is it's Phono compatibility with CRT TV's, otherwise I would have gone for one of the other Roku units)......

Absolutely loving it, does as it's told, easy to operate (Even me mum could work it!), loads of streaming apps available (It will do the same as the SKY NOWtv boxes and more..... so happens these are actually re-branded Roku units anyway) etc..... only thing I am a bit pissed off about, is it will not install Amazon Streaming Media app (Available for the states only at the mo).

It also does a cracking job of streaming files on the local network from the main comp (Which is the main reason why I got it in the first place, to replace my ageing 1st gen x-box)..... however, this is also the problem I have, which I could use with a few ideas with.

The main streaming app, is called Plex (There is even a Linux version), and it's quite a simple thing to set up on the main pc to act as a streaming server etc, and it will stream pretty much every video and audio file type out there..... however it's not free, at either $6.99 per month, or $149 for a lifetime licence..... f*** paying that!

Now I can used the playlist function in Windows Media Player and use the Roku Media Player app to connect to these playlists etc, but it runs like a bag of nails, and not all audio / video files work on it.

I need a solution a bit like an XBMC server (Like my x-box can use, but I just used SMB / Samba, which is a local network browsing function), or better yet, some sort of setup, where I can use the Roku to just simply browse the local network (Although I have a feeling this may not be possible).

I have tried HomeNet, but it refuses to install here, so what I am asking folks, is if they can suggest a free app of sorts for use on win7 64 bit, or better yet, a COUGH CURE for Plex, would love to hear from you

Like i said on JPF

PS3mediaserver or Serviio will do you well, Serviio needs a cough mix of which i do not have mind.

A cough mix to make it a lot better but the free version should do what it is you need.
