when tring to load roms and layouts like crazy fruits dx and thounderbirds dx i get the error "cannot draw on to canvas! ???
anyone any ideas?

You must be running Windows 95/98/ME.
Canvas drawing errors happen a lot with Windows 9x/ME. This is due to poor memory management within these operating systems The first thing to try is running Jpemu without any other process running e.g.any TSR's (Printer Monitors), Spyware, Anti-Virus's & and no Applications running like Explorer Windows, Office prorgams etc.
The best solution is to upgrade to a better Operating System like Windows 2000 or Windows XP, these OS's have a much better implementation of Memory Management.
