to use xhair3

start the program
type 50 into the 2 textboxes
slide the 3 sliders to the right

you will see the on button change colour

then click the on button

when you drag the mouse accross the screen you will see a crosshair redraw over you screen

once your finnished using xhair3 press the off button before you click the close button
always on the scrounge for freebies.

You can edit the exe files.

This works with 95% of them.

Download a little program called XVI32 it's easy to find on google.

Open it up. In the program, open the exe file of the quiz game you want to play. The left of the screen should be a load of numbers, the right will have some text about not working in dos and other stuff. Click 'search' and then 'find'

Tell it to look in 'Text string' and seach for: ShowCursor

You MUST use capital letters for the S and C.

Click the S of show, and type "Clip" so it now reads "ClipCursor"

save the file. Load the game. Hey presto, you have a mouse cursor, with no flickering or stupid red boxes, and it only takes 30 seconds, I've done all my games in about 10 minutes.

I tried using Xhair3 but it leaves a trail behind it. Will try the hexeditor instead.

Is there anything missing from your tutorial psychoduck? I have done everything you said but when I run the new cursor exe the screen goes black and freezes.
In task manager I just get program not running. When I edit it back to ShowCursor the exe works fine again. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Nope, that's everything I do step by step. Admittedly, I'm no programmer, my skills are basic beyond belief. I was told what to do, essentially, by JayJay. Unable to figure it all out, I messed around with changing a few commands and that one worked for me everytime.

Which one are you trying to edit, btw? I could look at doing it myself and see if it works for me. I know there's a few it doesn't work with, but like i said earlier it works for about 95%

how big are the exe's?

are they full apps or just launchers ( a few meg)?

might be worth uploading them all or something if the latter

Hi Guys,

First post & all, but I've checked each .exe using XVI32 and changed all the ones that have the ShowCursor in them, and tey all work fine. Also on the ones that are marked XP I find that if you run them as administrator (through the propoties) then most work well.

I have mine setup to run through the SimpleTouch FE so I only have this program set to run as admin and I believe that anything launched from within also is run as admin, anyhow it does seem to run most of the xp ones I've tried.

On a side note how can you show cursors any any of the other .exe without the ShowCursor find? I assume some sort of decompiling maybe necessary & then checking & altering the jump tables? Any help of this would be great.

Top forum & loads of advice always given here. Well done all.

Regards

Carl (Forces21)
