I'm sure that it could be done, (Millionaire on the PC... mmmmmm!) but no doubt we would have people chirping up "You can't emulate that - it's a current tech!", blah blah blah.

I have just had to buy an MPU5 machine to play on at home, as I am bored with the current tiny trickle of unemulated MPU4/Impact/S2 machines and endless rehashes of existing layouts. Some relatively newer machines to play would be great, not the ancient ones from 15 years ago either.

On a side note, the people who actually make up the question packs for quiz machines must be MINTED. Lucky gits.

Lol, doubt it, the amount of question repetition I used to get on classics like Top Of The Pops :D - I bet there were less than 75 questions on that machine, and I dare someone to prove otherwise!

As for emulation of SWPs [Skill With Prizes, Quiz Machines], it's hardly off topic, and many of the finest used IMPACT technology, of which an AWP emulator [JPeMu[ is already out. With that being the case, SWP emulation is most definately possible, and will hopefully take place soon.

There is this ongoing MAGE [Multiple Arcade Gambling Emulator?] project, which I think is for Video based MPU4 machines, although I am not totally sure. Check out www.fruitforums.com for more info on the MAGE project. :)

BarcrestBenito...See? I'm not necessarily a newbie slapper :p

Close Benito - Multiple Amusement/Gaming Emulator ;)

Anyway, the main aim of MAGE is to get these SWP's done, but at the moment, things have stalled a little.

The hardware used to make these games is inherently complex, because the budgets were very low (it all relies on properties of hardware that aren't necessarily logical).

However, efforts are still being made, and we've got some machines working in a way.

BFM CD based games are bottom of the list at present - MPEG decoding is a problem under the MAME license, so it may be that an external program is required.

Lol, I gave it a shot, but didn't get much luck out of the early release, so will try again on a more recent version :)

Elcondor - do you still want pics of the IMPACT stuff that I have? I forgot all about it :o

If you do, let me know, but the earliest I can get the pics will be 6:30pm ish tonight, as the bandits in the garage and dad has the keys :o

Yes, I'd still like them, what with Dialtone having bigger things to worry about, it may be best if I start this myself.

BTW, Cluedo type hardware - it appears even more complicated than I thought, apparently the video processor has internal, hard-wired memory.

Oh boy I wish I could play Telly Addicts again - that was great. After an easy round of TV related questions, you were shown a grid where you had to match up names of famous TV pairs e.g. Laurel and Hardy, Starsky & Hutch, Mulder and Skully etc. They showed you the whole grid for about 5 seconds and then covered it up. With a couple of mates, you could quickly stick your fingers all over the screen while another mate worked the button to match the pairs off. This worked a treat and gave you the 5 Jacky on most occasions. OK we looked like we'd all had our hands superglued to the screen but it was fun.

Happy days eh!

Bell-Fruit end games are always good for a laugh, but what worries me is that, looking at the discs, it was so easy to hack the listings so that the right answers wern't accepted.

Bugger me it's an old thread. Over 10 years old. Back when I was known as BarcrestBenito :o

Seriously though... this thread didn't need bumping for two reasons.

1) It's old and outdated, and

2) There's a whole bunch of Itbox / IND:E type machines that you can play on PC these days. In fact there's a few other ones I've got kicking about somewhere (the PC version of JPM Cluedo and Maygay's South Park SWP).

Hi Tommy Dee

You need to each Cliff's Repro.

All the games and emulators should be on there.

I have downloaded the quiz machines before but have real problems with the mouse navigation.

I real think you need to have a good spec pc though

Jay

Used to love this machine if its the classic button version and not touch screen, was very easy to jackpot just had to bash those buttons at the end
