Is anybody working on an emulation of this machine? This one sticks in my mind as the first machine I played that had the £4.00 Jackpot. I used to hang out in a café in Plymouth helping out the owner here and there with his video & fruit machines. He bought this machine brand new set at £3.00 just before the new legislation came into force. When he shut the café the night before the new rules, we switched it over, changed the decals and had a go. Must be about 20 or 21 years ago now - wow. :wow:

Sorry for being a thicky, but I think I've just worked out what 'Impact' was getting at. Just been having a chat with 'fruitymad2003' in the chat room. Fortune Numbers was from the same era as Razzle Dazzle, and was manufactured by Barcrest. This would probably make it MPU3 technology (the same as Razzle Dazzle) therefore it should be possible to emulate it if the necessary ROMS and artwork were available. Can anybody comment?

That's right - Fortune Numbers came out just before Razzle Dazzle (and just after Strike-a-Light). It had the same roulette-wheel gamble as the other two, but the feature trail was very different. Whereas RD and SaL had a 15-place 'one-shot' trail, Fortune Numbers had a long trail (49 places) and a 'feature held' system to allow you to climb to the top. If I remember correctly all the even squares were blank and all the odd squares had something on them, although the lower ones were, obviously, mostly useless. I do hope that the ROMs for this are around somewhere, as it's one of the two machines on my 'most wanted' list. The other one, incidentally, is the original version of BFM's Cops & Robbers - not the one with the square trail but the one where the Robber started at one end of the trail and the policeman at the other - the two ran towards each other and you had to judge how close you dared to get to the copper before you turned around and ran away. Far better than the later version.

Stuart's got it spot on - I'm glad I'm not the only retro freak (Super Line-Up was brilliant in it's simplicity). As I have said previously, this ought to be MPU3 technology and therefore emulatable (Is that a proper word? :? ). All that is necessary is decent artwork and the relevant ROMs and somebody prepared to invest the time & effort. I hope somebody with the relevant techie knowledge would be prepared to tackle it.

Theres a few of us around and about

Sadly the resources for Fortune Numbers haven't come to light yet, although the MPU3SAS are always on the lookout for any MPU3 based machines and have found many machines we never expected to find in the past.
