There is a hack for VB, that allows you to "hide" a password, which will only be revealed to a member when they have made a "thankyou" post.
Rar the download and use the advanced settings to password it.
We use this method on the site i moderate, and it works well.

Just a thought ;).

Don't get me wrong this was not a suggestion that all 0 posters are dirty thieving leeching scumbags hehe, just that I think for the sake of the database 0 posters should be purged every 6 months or so.

After all it is a forum... :bigeyes02:

that is a good system because people will appreciate what they are downloading.

Fair points on both sides but it would be hard to come down on members just because they dont post.

Im sure a fair amount of them are greatful to layout designers etc..but are mabye a bit shy to join in the forums..as i was for ages and ages.

Can you imagine a release thread with 58,000 thanks replies (the amount of members on here approx).

Hard one to deal with in the best way for all i think.
Mmmmmm...Sandy ive 'ad her ye know. :)

That is my point though, there are no where near that many 'members' if you look at the lists you can tell they are dupes. A simple check of IPs will tell you this. Time for a clean out I think and if they are genuine members they can easily sign back up. :bigeyes02:

No activity for a period of ,say 6months,may be a fair way to streamline the site.:bigeyes04:

Not really as we do it for fun....

Then it would take One ebay seller to 'buy' it and create a disc or a torrent.

Moral of this thread is...its life....

You will always get people that can't be arsed to even type 'thanks' even though it takes 100x longer to download.

Download this (MFME2) and check the notes file:-

Erm I think most would agree that Classics are harder to do that DXs in most cases hehe.

Erm how about I charge you all $500 for 50 s4 layouts then? :bigeyes04:

Noticed a few times when searching for members that there are literally thousands of '0' post members and I would hasten a guess by the nicknames hundreds of dupe accounts.

Do the staff think it is about time for a purge? We do this fairly often at DADs as it helps keep the database nice and tidy. :bigeyes05:

I normally go for 3 months at DADs'. Its truly amazing how many just sign up to leech without even an attempt at 'joining in' as it were.

Those who've made one post are safe from deletion although I'm thinking of going through the database and getting rid of those who haven't visited in a good while - there are quite a few of those too.

Fruit-Emu (Fruit Machine Emulation) - Download: - Money Talks 1280DX

The layout creators should do that for ever one thats made now

& if its released on Dads then a d/l from dads would be in the folder :)

I usually do a purge every so often of users who have not visited the site for a certain period of time rather than those that have not posted. I also delete all users whose last visit was on the day they signed up.

Posting isn't mandatory and people are welcome to download, play the arcade and casino. If bandwidth ever got to be a problem then I would thinking of implementing some of the ideas based around users needing to post before downloading.
