Bought this sexy beast today, was working fine, transported home I know something is loose but very frustrating. The monitor is grey and powers up but no other lights and a buzzing from the power supply and an alarm ringing I think 7 beeps then off then back on again quickly. arrrggghhh

Nice looking machine you have there. A pain in the arse transporting any large piece of electrical equipment that is full of connectors. If the PSU is of a switch mode design then  and hear a buzzing (crossbarring????) it could mean it is running with no load.

You've already sussed somethings loose, I'd start looking at the connectors on the PSU and work back to the main board.

Hopefully nothings got damage and it's something that needs a good whack!!!

It could be the program card on the mpu4 video board is loose - remove it and re-insert - also check the smaller one that goes into the mpu4 program card slot.

Took out the program card and reinserted, closed up the 7 seg light display lit up, now however I kept it unplugged as when door is closed there is a crackling noise coming from the base in the power supply area,.

the fuses on the power supply can pop up with vibration and make intermittent contact - they just push in and twist - theres also a power in (kettle plug style) on the psu tucked away inside that area that may be worth checking out.

Thank you captain haddock I will look at it tomorrow, been offered to return if not working going to do everything I can to get it back I have checked the kettle on the psu and made sure that's fully connected, are the fuses easy to get at as the power supply is a right pain to manoevure

I have one of these, check all fuses are locked in they like to come loose and even fly out in transit.

Basically just check everything above.

A fast clicking noise in the PSU (switch mode) is crowbarring. The unit has no load. Whether a connector has come loose, dry joint or a component has failed. Have a good look at that PSU as they can give all sorts of unrelated  faults on the rest of the machine.

I've had this grey screen with noise any times, Make sure you check both the mpu4 program module and the video game module are both fitted correctly, this is usually the culprit.

Give £50 for mine from a member off here a few years ago and still got it but the transformer went a few weeks back.

Mine is tucked in a little room with Kung Fu so cant get in the back of it as need a part number for a man I know who has fixed T.Vs for the last 30 years.

sounds a bit cheeky but as your in the back of yours, can you see if you can see the part number on the Transformer for the monitor?

Did you try this machine before you took it away?
