Here's the problem...

I have been building an empire layout for FMEF. In doing so I discovered a massive problem with the reels. Basically because of the way I have done the reels, if you had the number reel above the normal reels you could see the normal reel in the number reel and vice versa, not good.
So I have been working on making the reels a rotating cylinder with the reel band applied as a texture, BUT, no matter what I do I end up with the texture looking blocky, see picture. I tried applying anti aliasing, ansiotropic filtering, a massive texture, a small texture, a .dds file even, but it always looks the same.
If anyone knows anything about creating 3D models in 3DS Max with High Res textures, please help.
