What happened to the fun in Fruit Machines?

I want to rant about the fun level in fruit machines nowadays....
Is it me getting older or machines getting boring?
I mean, Cludo was great, simple straight forward and a fun feture game to play, trying to get the suit of armour, and satisfaction of winning £6 in tokens.
Nowadays, multi level feature boards bigger prizes, but the fun seems to have gone?
Is it just me?

No it's not just you. I can remember the days of Indy, Money Talks, Roller Coaster, Card Cash, Instant Jackpots and many more. In those days you could go in the arcade with £50 and be there all day and come out with what you went in with. I played an S16 the other day at Corley services and it sucked £50 in about 5 minutes.
