Default People With Acer Systems!

hello people if anyone want to restore there computer to the day you got it and its quick and easy just follow the script below

thanks dan

VISTA ONLY

It sounds like it may be advisable to perform a system recovery on your machine to rule out that the problem is a software related one. In order to do so, you will need to launch the Disk2Disk recovery feature (which should be supported by your machine). This can be initiated by pressing ALT + F10 when the computer is first switched on. You will need to hold down ALT as soon as the Acer splash screen appears, and repeatedly press F10. The window of opportunity is very small, so this may take a few attempts. The Disk2Disk recovery feature allows you to recover the system without recovery CDs. This will return your system to factory settings and will delete everything stored on the machine. If possible we strongly advise backing up anything important on your machine before starting the recovery process.

If you are unable to complete the recovery process, please do not hesitate to contact us again, as there may be another problem with the machine.

The only thing worse in my book than Vista, is an Acer lappy, and I have sure as hell repaired a few of the fucking rot boxes.

The e-recovery management system you speak of is about it's only saving grace, but TBH nothing beats using system restore dvd's which you should have made when you first got the machine or better yet, using a generic blank OEM version of the OS and using that (No added OEM crap with it).

The worst aspect of Acer lappies, is the power plug / pin they use (1.65 mm center pin). This is a non standard size, and in many cases, difficult to obtain as many generic PSU manu's seam to show.

Got an Aspire 3690 here that has been back to me several times, mostaly with power issues. Thankfuly it's now totaly dead (Charging circuit is completaly dead, but it still powers up with the batts) and I should never have to see this rotbox ever again!

I also have an acer aspire 5920G, from day one it was plying up. The display driver keeps crashing. Somtimes it will crash and be ok for a few days other times it crashes every 12 seconds untill i get a blue screen. When it comes back on it says that it was a hardware fault. I updated the drivers, that didn't help so rolled them back again.

I phoned up currys support and they said to do a full back to factory reset.
I tried to tell the guy the problem but he would not listen and said I HAD to do a restore before he could continue. I told him the error code and what it said about the error but he wanted me to find the error code that came on the blue screen. He said once I had done the restore I could not plug my mouse in or use my mobile broadband to rule them out the problem. I said it's a graphics card (Hardware) problem. He said to me "who is the expert hear". I thought wanker more like.

Anyways I did as he said and didn't use the mouse or broadband dongle or any other stuff that u plug into the lappy and within 30 minutes of the restore the driver crashed again. I can stop it from going to the blue screen if I close the lid on the laptop so the screen is off, leave for a minute and open again. But I left it as he wanted the error code on the blue screen. Guess what? It was the same bloody code. So now I have to ring them back on there national rate number from my mobile which will cost a bomb. Just to tell the prick I spoke to before I told you so. I thought that a computer that cost £699 shoud work for at least a year before u get crap like that. O this is the second laptop to as the forst one i got, about 15 pixels went on the screen.

VERDICT

DONT BUY ACER!

This would be the point at which I would have stuffed the laptop up his arse and fucked off and got another one with the refunded cash (not that I'd buy an Acer or ring a premium rate number for hardware advice) there seems to be a daft notion in this day and age that just because you purchase a branded product its automatically top quality and should work out of the box christ just look at how many fucked Ipods there are in the world and you see what I mean.

I did want to shove that lappy in his gob as he was a total ass. It's not premium rate like the £1 a min jobys but its still 40p a minute on the mobile. I said to the guy when looking for a laptop, I heard acer are shit. He was like they was when they started but they gone up in the world. Up in smoke more like. This is the only problem with the laptop and apart from that it works fine and runs very fast. I put flight sim x on yestarday and it runs like a charm. Even with the gfx setting on high. on the desktop pc even with a good gfx card it was not copeing with the settings at half. if i can get the display sorted I might just be a little bit happy.

Nowt wrong with mine.Got a Travelmate 2702WLMi everything ok since getting it off an insurance jobby maybe 2 or 3 years ago.Apart from that it is heavy and rather large not had any problems with it yet(apart from my own mistreatment of it lol)

One thing that bugs me is that on startup it goes to a blue screen and gives me 10 seconds to do a disc check,I always skip it as it takes ages and I do my own once or twice a week.
Anyone know how to get rid of this annoying message?

Sounds like there may be issues with one or more of you're discs file systems....
Do you often turn it off with the laptop power button instead of shuting down via windows?

When I am on it I shut down properly, might be our lass messing it up.Always run off the mains and have known my 3 yr old son come and switch power off on several occasions. Most annoying though.
