didnt want vista on my lappy no more so i put xp pro on...
problem is its got no internet now (this never happened on the desktops i put xp on)

device manager is saying the ethernet controllers are not installed and cant find them, iv googled for them and all i keep finding is progs that check and update the drivers(these progs are setups that need internet access to install )

cant even reinstall vista as the recovery disk is in the box the lappy came in and the misses kindly threw it out

lappy is a toshiba equium p200d-139

Any help would be greatfully recived and may be rewarded by a bj from the misses(she dosent know yet )

Yep a few, two being ethernet controllers... i have a uni device/driver disk for xp that always sorted out any desktops iv installed for myself and other people.

Seems the lappy has newer hardware that only has vista drivers

Guess im gona have to find a vista os (thank fook theres torr. ents)


A wee warning to any of you who get a new comp/lappy and wana get rid of vista... Check for compatible drivers first

your windows should have most drivers built in just try to update/install driver automatically and it shud work i had a prob like that b4 i kept tryin to use a driver disk i have but it never worked then i tryd to do it automatically and it worked

Some new hardware hasn't got XP drivers for it - I have had a similar issue, and it's to do with unnacceptable calls to the operating system in XP - so they never produced drivers for them.. It's a way of forcing you to use Vista.. It's going to happen more and more too... Many new laptops/ PCs only work with Vista and will not run properly with XP.
