Just incase those on Talk Talk didn't know but AOL is now owned by Carphone Warehouse and are in the process of migrating networks. Which is taking longer then they probably expected. The problems I've been with their DNS server was just unbelievable until I changed to OpenDNS. My god what a difference!

Now that my connect has been moved certain things have actually improved. One of the improvements is that I can access the YouTube website much faster than before. On the old network the videos would either download too slowly or not at all more or less all the time.

As for AOL's software, I don't have it install on my PC. Because I run via a router there is no real need for the software (even with a USB modem there isn't as the XP connection wizard supports PPPoE protocols and the username is [Master Screenname]@aol.com). I do however have it installed in a Virtual PC so that I can view bill details and use the Live Help feature).

Overall I'm still relatively content with AOL. Yes I have had the odd glitch with them which resulted in a free months fee and a reduction to £9.99pm. There isn't (with the exception of Sky & Talk Talk) any cheaper service so I can't complain.

All ISPs have their good and bad points and today it is probably very difficult to single one out to be an outstanding company worth moving to.
